Yoga has become a very popular practice used not only as a way to sweat out extra calories, but it has also been a therapeutic practice to help clear the mind, as well as create harmony and balance within life.
And at 97, Tao Porchon Lynch, the world’s oldest yoga instructor, can attest to just how much yoga has enhanced her way of life.
In 2012, Tao was given the title of oldest yoga instructor by the Guinness Book of World Records. She has been avidly practicing since 1926 and has mastered the ability to control her body and mind in harmony, while overcoming the effects of aging on her body.
A true inspiration to people around the world, Tao has spoken on peace panels with the Dalai Lama, and lives by the philosophy, “There is nothing we cannot do if we harness the power within us.”
Years later, she continues to prove that philosophy over and over again.
As part of the Be Inspired St. Pete event on December 4th, Tao will lead over 250 residents through her yoga practice. From 4 to 7 p.m. participants can enjoy wine tasting, live entertainment by Gloria West & the Gents, free medical screenings and an age-prevention and hormone education session led by Dr. Lora Brown, Cleveland Clinic-Trained physician.
If you are planning to attend the outdoor yoga session, which will take place along the waterfront between the Mahaffey Theater and the Dali Museum, make sure you come prepared with comfortable workout clothing and your yoga mat.
This free event will welcome all ages. RSVP to reserve your spot now.
Enjoy the live music, discover new medical breakthroughs, grab a glass of wine, and find your zen.
