It’s almost that time again.
Making weekend plans – starting Monday morning, throughout the entire week ahead, we spend our time daydreaming that we are already out of the office, enjoying a cocktail or enjoying a night out with family. To get through the week, our minds wander, trying to figure out how we’re going to spend our few days off.
As always, we have prepared a list of things to do, so you have one less thing to worry about.
India International Film Festival – Centro Ybor
The fifth annual India International Film Festival, a three-day festival on August 28 at 6:30pm begins with an opening night gala and feature presentations, including feature films, short films, music videos and documentaries from different genres. Look at the full schedule.
Price: $5-$10 each film; $25 1-day pass; $40 2-day pass; $50 opening night pass; $75 festival pass.
Great Beer Challenge – Mirror Lake St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club
Join the Mirror Lake St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club on August 29 at 12:30pm as teams of four compete in beer-centered games (starting at 2pm) including flip cup, corn hole and even shuffleboard to honor the location for the event. Registration starts at 12:30pm and the winners will be announced at 5pm. Participant tickets include full access to beer games, swag and craft SweetWater beer.
Price: Advance: $30 participant tickets, $110 for team of four, or spectator tickets are $20 online; $50 at door per person, if available
Family Day at the Museum – Tampa Museum of Art
Gather the family for a fun day out at the Tampa Museum of Art on August 29 at 11am for Family Day at the Museum. Enjoy art tours at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm, featuring Andy Warhol screen prints and watch as artist Susan Frederick’s demonstrates the silkscreen process from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Interpretive dancing, coloring stations and tastings from Sono Cafe will also be provided.

Ybor City Saturday Market
Take a stroll in the nice summertime air at the Ybor City Saturday Market on Saturday, August 29 at 9am to enjoy and shop for gourmet foods, sauces, fresh baked bread, pet treats, arts and crafts, jewelry and more. Bring the family or make it a cute day date with that someone special.
Price: Entrance to the market is free
Gator Rompin’- MacDinton’s Irish Pub
Join Gator friends on August 29 at 5pm for a night of bar crawling down South Howard Avenue, starting at MacDinton’s Irish Pub, making stops at Dubliner, Soho Saloon, World of Beer and Yard of Ale. The bar crawl returns to MacDinton’s for a raffle to end the night.
Price: $25, $20 members (advance); $35, $30 members (day of)
French-inspired Brunch at Piquant
American breakfast standards are getting a French touch at Piquant. With the use of farm-fresh ingredients with made-to-order menu items, stop in on Sunday morning for a menu that’s always changing, for seasonal freshness. Menu items include quiches, rolled omelets, crepes and the best bacon in town. Wash it down with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
