I don’t know about you, but when the wine list comes out, my eyes gloss over. I have no idea what any of it means.
I’ve tried to learn about the difference between Cabernet and Savigion Blanc, but it’s useless. I need a guide or an education or Cliff’s Notes. So when I went to Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, I was stoked to find that they had done me one better. They had created an entire interactive wine cheat sheet on an iPad.
Meet Fleming’s iPad Wine List
Fleming’s has an extensive wine list (with over 100 different single glass offerings) so it fits the bill for a restaurant that could benefit from wine list that tells you everything you need to know about vino.
The iPad wine guide:
- provides a full description of each wine (that is usually written by staff and associates in order to keep the recommendation in laymen’s terms — not complicated wine jargon)
- matches wine selections based on your mood (like bubbly and festive, robust and spicy, and sweet & powerful)
- offers perfect food and wine pairings
- allows patrons to email wine names and information (so they can remember it later or send it to a friend as a recommendation)
The interactive iPad wine list is perfect for wine novices and newbies (like me) to make a selection based on real facts and descriptions, and it is also great for wine enthusiasts looking to find new favorites and enhance their already extensive wine knowledge.
A Small Plate, a Big Pour
The best part about learning how to pick a pour is learning how to pick a plate to match it.
At Fleming’s you can get a small dish (with big taste) and glass of wine that bring out the best in each other. Plus at the perfect size, these pairings make it easy to start to learn how wine and food work together to build flavor. You can sample around, explore, and see what all the hype is about.
Knowing about wine and understanding how wine and food work together is skill worth having. So thankfully, we have places like Fleming’s that make is possible for wine newbies like me to enjoy, eat, drink, and act like I know what I’m doing.
It’s easy when you can pick any one of these offerings.
