Downtown St. Petersburg is going to be filled with car enthusiasts as the Grand Prix takes over the city.
Having had the opportunity to take a ride in a car similar to the ones that will be racing the course, I can understand the adrenaline that the race car drivers must feel. Driving down Bayshore Drive we were limited to the amount of speed we could conjur up, but it was fast enough to provide a very thrilling and exhilarating experience.
The loudness of the engine echoing off the city buildings filled me with excitement. Although I only got to experience ten minutes zooming down the streets, these drivers will have the opportunity to feel the heat of the race for almost two hours on the 1.8 mile street course. The IZOD IndyCar Series Race will run 110 laps (198 miles).
You won’t want to miss The 9th Annual Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg beginning Friday, March 22nd through Sunday March 24th.
This is the opening race for the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series for a third consecutive year and will welcome four support series races. This is the only IZOD IndyCar Series race to be held in Florida this year. For more information and tickets check out their website www.gpstpete.com.
