One show I have been looking forward to since its announcement is the Glitch Mob, Phantogram, Com Truise show. Although I have to admit that glitch and trip-hop aren’t among my favorite genres of music, Phantogram is one of my favorite bands and I know that the combination of these three acts is going to make for one hell of a show!
Opening the show is Seth Hanley, stage name Com Truise ( whose name is a spoonerism of Tom Cruise). A native of New Jersey, Hanley creates synth-heavy beats with an 80s flair.
Getting their name from an optical illusion, upstate New Yorkers, Phantogram, create a trip-hop infused style of electo-rock that can easily be equated to an audible version of said optical illusion. The Saratoga Springs duo are currently signed to Barsuk Records, home of such bands as Death Cab for Cutie and Rilo Kiley and have toured with the likes of The xx, Animal Collective, and Caribou, among many other major acts. “Mouthful of Diamonds” and “When I’m Small” are two of their most popular singles and I for one am completely stoked to hear them live. Phantogram has quickly become one of my current favorites and have been dreaming of seeing them live for about two years now!
The Glitch Mob is three-piece electronic music outfit from Los Angeles, California whose name is derived from the genre of music they produce – glitch. Glitch music is a culmination of what most musicians and DJs consider to be musical “waste” products. CDs and vinyl scratches and skips, electronic hums, over-processed noise, etc. Acts like the Glitch Mob have taken these sounds, usually considered nuisances, and turn them into a genre all its own. Playing show after show on the West Coast since 2006, GM has been gaining a major following and are now on tour in support of their first full-length album.
Tickets are still available and are $15 in advance and $20 day of show. Doors are set to open at Czar at 8pm and this event is 18 years of age and up. Major shout out to No Clubs Productions for bringing what is definitely going to be one of my favorite shows of the summer!
