Museums aren’t just for displaying art. Sometimes they are for making it.
This week the Tampa Museum of Art starts its fall session of art classes which run from October 26 , 2010 through December 18. The weekly classes cost $120 for an 8 week course & $60 for a 4 week course and are held at the downtown museum.
Classes Include:
Foundations of Drawing – Take your sketching to a whole new level. Doodle-ers welcome. Saturdays 2pm – 4:30pm (8 Weeks)
Life Drawing – Learn the basic tools and tricks for making drawings that pop. Thursdays 6pm – 9pm (8 Weeks)
Basic Painting – Don’t know the difference between Oil and Acrylic? Learn all about canvas, paint, and color theory and how the best artists use them. Wednesdays 6pm – 9pm (8 Weeks)
Plein Air Painting –Saturdays 11am – 2pm (8 Weeks) Grab an easel and any paint medium you desire and get outside for these landscape-inspired and often outdoor painting sessions.
Mixed Media Sculpture – Add some literal dimension to your art and create 2D and 3D sculpture pieces while using printmaking, collage and mono-print techniques. Wednesdays 6pm – 9pm (8 Weeks)
Fashion Design and Principles – Learn the basics of fashion from fabric to stitches, drafting to design. All sewing levels are welcome. Wednesdays 6pm – 9pm (8 Weeks)
Photograph to Silkscreen – Your camera has settings for a reason. Learn to use them and take better photos than Automatic. Thursdays 6pm – 9pm (4 Weeks)
Bookbinding Workshop –Make your journals, photo albums and sketchbooks even more personal as you create them yourself. Wednesdays 6pm – 9pm (4 Weeks)
For artists, the classes are great motivators to keep working. For non-artists, it’s a great way to find out that you are actually way more creative than you think.
So hurry and sign up so you can start creating your own work of art in the same house shared by international masterpieces.
