Because of the huge popularity of monthly Food Truck Rallies, Flicks and Food Trucks, and The Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta, mobile meal enthusiasts decided one thing was missing from Tampa’s truck scene – a daily food truck offering.

Bring on Food Truck Square.

Located in the empty lot just west of Monstah Lobsta at 1901 Platt Street, Food Truck Square will be a daily meeting point for a rotating selection of local food trucks.

Meal sections will vary as much as the traveling kitchens. Cuisines from sandwiches and burgers to Mexican and Asian to dessert and vegan offerings will be available from a list of  participating food trucks that include:

• Burger Culture
• The Killer Samich Truck
• What Ever Pops
• Tasty Stacy
• Mr. Empanada
• And don’t forget that Monstah Lobsta will be open for business too.

Food Truck Square will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, and beer and wine will both be available on site.

And don’t forget to join almost a dozen of Tampa’s finest meals on wheels for the Food Truck Square’s Grand Opening on Thursday, February 23.

No, that doesn’t mean that a tall, bearded man in a top hat will be escorting patrons on Sunday, but it does mean that Lincoln’s face will be all over the place.

From 7pm until 11pm on Sunday, February 19Th, you can order a drink – or 10 – and get the chance to the drinks all for free. Simply call a penny heads or tails. Call it right and the drinks are free. Call it wrong and you pay full price.

All draft beers, Corona and Corona Lt bottles, house and call level liquors, house wines and  featured Johnnie Vegas shot made with Herradura Tequila will all be included in the special game.

So celebrate President’s day like our fore fathers’ intended it – making bets with booze.

Find some one of a kind art for your walls at the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts . The annual event is coming to Tampa on March 3rd and 4th and will feature art including ceramic, digital, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor and wood.

The event will be held in downtown’s Curtis Hixon Park from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 10am – 5 pm on Sunday.

While enjoying Tampa’s Downtown remember that The Tampa Theatre is offering free tours and The Tampa Musuem of Art is offering free admission during the art event on Saturday and Sunday.

What to Expect

Hundreds of tents of artists and their work along with live music and a huge variety of food vendors. Basically – it is a free outdoor gallery in beautiful Downtown Curtis Hixon Park.

Celebrate the Irish Holiday with the Rough Riders Crew as they sponsor their annual Ybor St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17, 2011.

The parade runs down 7th Avenue from 8:00pm to 9:30pm.

Expect something like a Green Gasparilla!

This unusual, nouveau art event will showcase hundreds of fresh and sophisticated works focused on the beauty of the human form in its most natural, stripped form.

Held annually in both Orlando and Tampa, Florida the 3 night visual event is one sight the eye does not want to miss.

The event will be held in an Ybor City warehouse, located at 3606 4th Ave., from 6pm to midnight March 1 through March 3.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. A cash bar will be available inside the event.

DayGlow is a one of kind experience that brings nightclubbing to a whole new level by combining music, art, dance and paint!

It is a concert, featuring spectacular DJs, soaring aerial acts, stilt-walkers, contortion acts, fire shows, and cannons to deliver the famous “Paint Blast.”

The outdoor event starts at 9pm on Friday, February 17th at the Hawaiian Village in Tampa. Tickets are available online and are expected to sell out so make sure you call before you lather yourself up with highlighters and paint.

On August 19, 2009, University of Tampa senior Ryan McCall was tragically killed during a heinous crime just outside of UT’s campus.

McCall’s bright future may have been stolen, but his family and friends refuse to let the same thing happen to his memory.

So to honor the cross country and track runner, Tampa Prep coach, and exercise science major, those closest to him started the Ryan McCall Memorial Fund.

Fundraisers – like Ryan’s Run – support the fund which donates proceeds to a scholarship given to one high school senior boy and girl every year. All recipients have excelled both academically and athletically through cross country or track – just like McCall.

Ryan’s Run is the memorial’s largest fundraiser. This year the race is schedule for Saturday, April 7 in Ybor’s Centennial Park.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk the Red Carpet on Oscar Night?

The Tampa Theater is hosting its 13^th Annual Oscar Night America – an Oscar Watch Party and Red Carpet Event on February 26, 2012.

The event starts at 6:30pm with a complete red carpet reception – fit for the stars.

Visitors will take a ride around the block in a limo and arrive in style in front of a group of fans and paparazzi – where they will be hounded for autographs and photos and interviewed by the crazy host for the night “Roan Jivers.”

Once inside, visitors will enjoy food samples and free soda, popcorn and coffee all night. A cash bar will also be available on site.

The live telecast of the Academy Awards will be shown at 8:00pm sharp on the big screen.
